Wow Beta: This is What I’m Still Not Into - the Female Panda

See the head tipping? Yeah, not much into the “anime little girl cutesy poo” thing there. The animations are better now - at least the female panda doesn’t loll her head around on her neck in a way that makes you suspect something very important is broken that should cause her problems in mobility.

Note the panda in that video is male. But then, so are all the characters in the trailer. Having played the starter area I’m really not liking what they did with the female panda character you follow around. (And yes, I forgot her name.) There was an end scene with you, a male panda and that female panda (who they’d previously tried to explain was a real ass-kicking fighter) that came off - to me - as though the female were told to “let the big boys handle this, your ideas on how this should be resolved are wrong.” Am hoping they changed that but it was a very wtf moment for me.

Anyhow, this was my primary thought about the expansion before I started messing about with the pet battles. (I was almost annoyed with how much fun I had with them.) Husband tells me the quests have been redone so perhaps the female panda has a different scene now. I’ll eventually play another panda and find out. (There are some fun start area quests for the panda, that much they did well. Very Kung fu movie type stuff.)

Short version: I am not really sold on the pandas. The female version, anyway. Also - this is a great example of why women play male characters.
